Having grown up in Launceston I understand the unique challenges facing Tasmania as an island state. I have very fond memories of working as an after-hours GP in Derwent Park and Launceston where I made many late night house calls. Having shared the best and worst of people's lives, I genuinely understand the need for improved local health services.

The Liberal Party is continuing to work for Australia's future so that we can keep our economy strong and give our children a standard of living of which we can be proud - and in which they can have confidence.

We will continue to work hard to ensure Labor keeps their election promises and provide a voice to those that need it most.

As Leader I am committed to setting a new direction for our Party, and together with my colleagues engaging with the Tasmanian community and developing policies that are sensible, balanced and reflect the aspirations and needs of mainstream Tasmanians.

The Tasmanian Liberals are a strong, unified team with all elected members having an impressive array of experience in professional and public life.

We will vigorously hold the Lennon Labor Government to account but will also serve as a positive and constructive alternative government.
