Subject : GREEN-LABOR MENTAL HEALTH CUTS SHORT-SIGHTED
Author : Jeremy Rockliff MP
Financial incompetence by Labor and the Greens will see already stretched mental health services on the North-West cut even further.

On top of concerns about staffing levels at the North-West's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, the Liberals have concerns about impending cuts to frontline staff in North-West Mental Health Services in the Adult Community Mental Health team.

With 30 people already on an allocation list, these cuts could lead to a waiting list blow-out of more than 100 people.

These clients are too unwell, or too much of a risk to be discharged from Mental Health Services and if further cuts are made, they will not be able to be actively managed.

These cuts are senseless and unfair. They will impact cruelly on clients and their families and could also impact on other services such as police, ambulance and hospitals.

In contrast, the Liberals' Alternative Budget showed how we would rein in spending so that we can invest in frontline services, including in our hospitals.

Again we call on Labor and the Greens to protect frontline health services from budget cuts in line with our Alternative Budget.
