"The devastating rise in the number of people unemployed in Tasmania by more than a full percentage point from 7.2 to 8.3 is a damning reflection of Green/Labor policy," Senator Abetz said today. "There are now more people without jobs in Tasmania seasonally adjusted per capita than any other State or Territory in the nation." "On top of this there was nothing in the Federal Budget allocated by Labor to stop the slide in Tasmania." "Indeed there is specific policy to destroy even more jobs with the Inter-Government Agreement on forestry which will impact not only on forest jobs but mining and tourism jobs as well." "This is what happens when you have a Labor/Green Alliance calling the shots both here in Tasmania and nationally," "Instead of helping people find work the only thing Labor and the Greens have done in Tasmania is destroy jobs." "The impending introduction of the Green/Labor job destroying Carbon Tax will only make things worse," Senator Abetz said.
