The Green-Labor Government is attempting to trick Tasmanians into thinking that they are delivering lower power prices. They're not. It is a complete swindle and prices will still be going up on 1 July.
The Government is literally giving with one hand and taking with the other, by using the revenue raised from the unfair carbon tax to pay for this change.
Tasmanians will not be fooled. They know that on 1 July this year, they are going to have to pay a carbon tax on non-carbon producing hydro power. Now the Premier is throwing this in their faces by saying that some of the unfair tax slug will be used to reduce their other power price increases.
Power prices will always be cheaper under a majority Hodgman Liberal Government than under a tax-and-spend Green-Labor Government.
