The Liberals Roadmap to Recovery and Growth offers Tasmanians hope and a reason to be more optimistic about the future, by creating more opportunities for our young people to get a job here. We would restore the Tasmanian Trainee and Apprentice Incentive Scheme which has previously supported around 1400 traineeships and apprenticeships. The Trainee and Apprentice Incentive Scheme provides the employers of trainees and apprentices a rebate equal to the payroll tax paid in respect of those employees. The building and construction industry is currently facing significant challenges, restoring this scheme will provide a shot in the arm for this vital industry which will flow right through the economy. The Trainee and Apprentice Incentive Scheme will also stimulate many other industry sectors, and provide a real incentive to create jobs for young Tasmanians. I am extremely positive about the future of our great state, and this policy will give people, especially young Tasmanians, greater hope and optimism about getting a good job.
