Subject : MINISTER MUST ABANDON COMPLACENT APPROACH ON MCCAIN'S
Author : Jeremy Rockliff MP
In what can only be described as corporate thuggery, McCain's are attempting to exploit the vulnerability of Tasmanian farmers trying to scrape a living. The Minister needs to stand up and defend Tasmanian farmers from opportunistic moves seeking to exploit the difficult circumstances many producers have found themselves in. In their current treatment of hardworking, loyal Tasmanian farmers, McCain's are creating a 'survival of the most desperate' situation. It's incumbent on the Minister for Primary Industries to immediately investigate what options are available for Tasmanian farmers to get a fair deal, including whether the matter can be taken to the ACCC. This is no time for a passive approach from government, agriculture is one of the five pillars of Tasmania's future economy and our farmers deserve support.
