There is no doubt that Tasmania's health system is in absolute chaos because of the decisions Health Minister Michelle O'Byrne has made. So why then does she appear to be congratulating herself over the latest health performance report?
In a media release today, the Minister said "the system is working well". Orwellian New Speak can't cover up the fact that our health system has become the worst in the nation due to a decade of Government incompetence and neglect.
Is the Minister implying that the brutal budget cuts have somehow improved the health system?
If that's what the Minister thinks, then she should talk to one of the thousands of people waiting beyond the recommended time for treatment.
The Minister should talk to the families of people waiting years for vital, life changing surgery.
Only the Liberal Party has its priorities right. We've found $480 million in savings from the budget and we would restore $76 million of elective surgery funding to start fixing the mess that Minister O'Byrne has made.
