" SIU has spent seven out of eight dollars on itself " The Government is ignoring socially disadvantaged families " This is another example of a government with warped priorities
"The latest example of the State Government's warped priorities is probably the cruelest of all.
"The Social Inclusion Unit has spent nearly seven out of every eight dollars this financial year on advertising, glossy brochures, travel, food and entertainment, office expenses and wages.
"What sort of a State Government would stand by and watch as a government unit set up to help the socially disadvantaged spends nearly entirely on itself?
"This is just another example of how we need a better way of doing things in Tasmania. We need a government that through leadership and vision can take care of the vulnerable in our community.
"It is not good enough for the Treasurer to suggest that looking after the socially disadvantaged is the hallmark of the government when the reality is that money allocated to helping the socially disadvantaged is being spent on bureaucrats instead.
"It would be a shame if the Social Inclusion Unit failed to live up to its potential and became another Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority - capable of spending money, but not capable of delivering results."
