Raised at Nunamara, Peter Gutwein attended Myrtle Park Primary School followed by Queechy High School in Launceston. A keen sportsman, Peter represented Tasmania as a junior footballer and played senior football in both Tasmania and Western Australia.

Peter is 42 years of age, married to Amanda and they have two young children.

He qualified via Deakin University as a financial planner and enjoyed a successful career in financial services holding senior management positions both in Australia and Europe.

Just over 6 years ago he and his wife Amanda acquired the Bridport Bay Inn, which they managed together until Peter entered Parliament in 2002.

He likes to keep fit and runs several times a week, and is also a qualified black belt instructor in the Korean martial art of Tae Kwan Do, which he took up ten years ago.

When Peter does take time out he enjoys spending time with his family, loves movies, reading and going to the football.
