Labor needs to state where they stand on Marinus

Labor must tell Tasmanians where they stand on Marinus.

The Government needs to advise the Federal Labor Government and the Victorian Labor Government of our intention to sign the agreement by tomorrow or else risk losing the project and cost Tasmania an additional $37 million.

Tasmania will invest around $117m to secure a 17.7 percent stake in the project.

Marinus will unlock over $1.3 billion in economic activity and 1,400 jobs in the state.

Ms White has provided no response after the Government, under caretaker provisions, informed her of that intention.

Ms White also appears to be deliberately delaying responding to the offer of a full department briefing.

The Labor leader has previously stated she intends to ‘pull the plug on Marinus’ and doesn’t want ‘to throw good money after bad’.

Now is the time for Ms White to advise whether or not she backs Marinus and our renewable energy future, and the thousands of jobs that it will bring.
