Tenders called for Housing Tasmania Maintenance Contracts
- 11 Nov, 2017
Jacquie Petrusma, Minister for Human Services
Tenders have been called to provide major maintenance services for Housing Tasmania around the State.
Advertisements for tenders were published in the State’s three daily newspapers today with tenderers invited to submit applications for three regions, the North, North-West and South.
The Contracts will initially be awarded for four years and commence on 1 July 2018, with the potential for three, two year extensions.
Housing Tasmania has held discussions with Business Tasmania, Skills Tasmania, the Housing Industry Association and a number of Tasmanian not-for-profit Housing Providers with a view to encouraging local Tasmanian companies to apply for the tender.
A re-elected majority Liberal Government will set a target of 90% of contracts going to Tasmanian-based companies by 2022.
Encouraging community based tenderers to apply for local contracts will go a long way in helping achieve this target, while also injecting cash back into regional economies such as the North West.
The approximate value of the contract is $80 million for the initial term, with each two year extension valued at $40 million.
Tender briefing sessions will be held on November 22, and tenders will close at 2pm on January 3.
