New vessel for Flinders run

Will Hodgman, Premier
Congratulations to the Bayles family on today’s announcement that they will invest $4.5 million in building a new vessel for the Flinders Island run.
Matthew and Colleen Bayles have built up their Furneaux Freight business over many years and have subsequently been joined in the business by daughter Shannon and son Jacob.
This is a great example of a successful local family which has the confidence and the entrepreneurship to invest their money in growing and improving their business.
Flinders Island is also enjoying strong growth in agriculture and tourism which in turn creates jobs for locals and other business opportunities.
In addition to freight, the company also has an active boat building and maintenance business in Bridport for local and interstate fishermen and is currently completing a purpose-built vessel for Huon Aquaculture.
The Bayles family, through their Furneaux Freight business, are the life-blood of the Flinders Island and Cape Baron Island communities and the announcement of this new vessel further reflects their confidence in the Furneaux and North-East regions.
