Safety boost for tourists in national parks

The safety of all visitors to Tasmania’s pristine national parks is of paramount importance.
That’s why the Hodgman Liberal Government has developed a new, multilingual bushwalking preparation and safety video as part of a suite of measures designed to improve safety.
It’s important that visitors appreciate how quickly weather conditions can change, the safety video will help them better understand how to be prepared.
While it is not possible to eliminate all risks for visitors travelling in sometimes extreme environments, it is important we educate and inform so that individuals can take responsibility for their own safety.
Given the continuing increase in visitation by non-English speaking travellers, the Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) are prioritising the provision of information in visual formats and other languages.
The video is available on the PWS website alongside key safety information in Mandarin, Chinese, Indonesian and Japanese.
