Working together to take Braddon to the next level
- 08 Jul, 2018
Will Hodgman, Premier
The Government welcomes the significant infrastructure and jobs creating investments announced today by the Prime Minister which strengthens our Plan to take Braddon to the next level.
The recent State Budget includes a record $2.6 billion investment to improve infrastructure across Tasmania.
Building on this record investment, the Commonwealth and Tasmanian Governments will jointly invest $100 million to upgrade the Bass Highway between Wynyard and Marrawah to deliver road-widening, installation of overtaking lanes and intersection improvements.
The Government welcomes the Commonwealth’s $10 million commitment for strategic upgrades of the Murchison Highway to support the resources sector, visitor economy and improve safety and productivity.
The new $2.5 million Ulverstone Cultural Precinct will combine arts, culture, tourism and science to create an important new community and education hub for the Central Coast region.
Since my Government came to office, 13,400 jobs have been created for Tasmanians. To help keep this momentum going the Prime Minister’s Jobs Ready Generation commitment will ensure more young Tasmanians in the North West and West Coast have the skills they need to get a job.
These important announcements for the North West and West Coast underscore what can be achieved when two Liberal Governments work together to deliver for Braddon and for Tasmania.
