Dr Vanessa Goodwin MLC was appointed as the Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, Minister for Corrections, Minister for the Arts and Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council, following the Tasmanian State Election in March 2014. She was first elected to Parliament in 2009 as the Liberal Member for Pembroke.
Vanessa has a PhD in Law from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Philosophy (Criminology) from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tasmania.
Prior to being elected, she worked in Tasmania’s Department of Police and Emergency Management for over 11 years, with responsibility for conducting research, managing crime prevention projects and developing policy advice. Vanessa’s previous positions include Research Assistant to the Governor and Associate to the Chief Justice. She has also worked for an industry association and assisted with the management of a family business.
