Labor’s ferry fantasy going nowhere slowly

Labor is refusing to back plans for ferry terminals at Lindisfarne, Wilkinsons Point and Sandy Bay.

Labor is only pledging a terminal at Bridgewater.

Labor is failing to back prioritising sites according to key independent criteria.

Sites were assessed according to 18 criteria including water depth, demand, and if a ferry would be quicker than a car.

Bridgewater is ranked 27 out of 33 potential sites for a terminal.

Official studies have revealed for Bridgewater, a journey by car or bus would be quicker than a ferry service.

Still, Labor says it will spend $7 million on the project.

A re-elected majority Liberal Government will build the ferry network Hobart needs, and not a piecemeal, ill planned scheme that’s doomed to fail.
