Keeping MAIB costs down for Tasmanians
- 06 Dec, 2019
Michael Ferguson, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport
The Hodgman majority Liberal Government has a long-term plan for Tasmania and we are deliving our promise to keep the cost of living as low as possible.
We understand the importance of maintaining a strong budget, and as a government we want Tasmanian families to be able to spend their money on what is important to them.
That is why we are delivering the lowest standard MAIB premiums in the country.
This means the premium will remain at $294 for a standard motor vehicle, with no increase at all.
This is the lowest in the country, and is great news for Tasmanian motorists who voted Liberal in droves.
Importantly, pensioners will continue to be eligible for a 20 per cent discount on their MAIB premium. Tasmanians driving medium passenger vehicles and those with motor trade plates and special interest vehicles will enjoy a decrease in premiums.
In delivering the lowest MAIB premiums in the nation, the Hodgman majority Liberal Government is also delivering its election commitment to keep the cost of living as low as possible.
This is in stark contrast to Labor who has no plan, they stand for nothing and they simply cannot be trusted.
