Neighbourhood House Program Strategic Framework - Part 2
- 03 Dec, 2019
Roger Jaensch, Minister for Community Development
The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is a proud supporter of Neighbourhood Houses located throughout Tasmania and the valuable work they do in providing support, and building community capacity, resilience and cohesion.
Together with the peak body, Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania, they operate as a network to promote social inclusion, support the delivery of important programs, and link people to health and other vital services in 35 communities across the state.
Today marks the release of Part 2 of Neighbourhood House Program Strategic Framework 2019-2023, which provides an overview of the operations and practice of the Houses. The Strategic Framework has been developed in partnership with the Neighbourhood House Network, and aligns with our Tasmanian Government and Neighbourhood Houses Shared Commitment to Collaboration: A protocol for working together for the benefit of local communities.
The Hodgman majority Liberal Government strongly supports Neighbourhood Houses and the State Budget increased core funding to each House by $45,000 per year. Additionally we committed a further $2 million for capital upgrades and $150,000 over two years for grant funding to allow communities to improve staff and volunteer safety.
More detail is provided through a range of online resources that are available on the Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania website: www.nht.org.au/resources
