Tenders called for next section of Richmond Road

Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Infrastructure
The Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering on our plan to build the infrastructure our growing state needs for the future.
The next stage of works in the Richmond Road Masterplan is due to begin later this year with tenders now being called for upgrades between Malcolm’s Hut Road and Dry Creek.
Richmond Road is an important route for daily commuters, agricultural and commercial traffic, tourists, and cyclists, and upgrades are clearly needed to address safety issues along the 10.6 kilometre stretch.
That is why we developed the Richmond Road Masterplan that will provide a safer and more consistent road environment, to the benefit of all who use it.
The tender will deliver ‘section six’ of the Masterplan, which includes shoulder sealing between Malcolms Hut Road and Dry Creek, as well as upgrades to Malcolms Hut Road junction.
These works follow recent shoulder sealing between Richmond Golf Club and the University of Tasmania Farm, which is due to have its final road seal later this year.
Works on ‘section six’ are expected to be complete by mid-2019 and planning for the remaining six sections of the Masterplan is underway.
